Don’t Wait

Typing “Amen” on a facebook post does not mean that you’ve “accepted Christ as your Lord” any more than crying out “Lord! Lord!” (Mt. 7:21)

Accepting Christ as Lord means that you have measured Christ against the world and counted the whole of this world as rubbish compared to Him; having forsaken “Self” and become conformed to His death on the cross, it means you have been raised together with Him in the likeness of His resurrection and now walk in the Holy Spirit. If you have accepted Christ as your Lord, but do not follow Him, then you are a rebel in the Kingdom of God, not an heir.

Therefore it is written, “Beloved, build yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, and keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life” (Jude 1:20-21).

Is this call to “keep yourself in the love of God” heresy in your ears?

Again, from Jesus Himself, “As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full. This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.” (John 15:9-12).

Is this teaching that “if you keep My commandments you will abide in My love” heresy in your ears?

This is why my preaching has lately been so consumed with “love”, because “love” is the “law of Christ”, and our perversion of love perverts the “law of Christ” and causes true love “to grow cold” (Mt. 24:12).

Therefore, “By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments.” (1 John 5:2).

Now is the time to examine yourself as to whether or not you are in the love of God, don’t wait until you see the Great White Throne to examine yourself!
